Meeting în the Senate on Romanian-Chinese cooperation potential in the area of transport infrastructure development in Romania
President of the Committee for Transport and Energy with the Romanian Senate Ionel-Daniel Butunoi met on Tuesday with Nur Bekri, the Vice President of the National Development and Reform Committee and Director of the National Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China and discussed the relevant cooperation potential in the transport infrastructure area in Romania.
"The visit to Romania of the Chinese dignitary was occasioned by his participation in the Ministerial Conference on Energy Cooperation in China - Central and Eastern European Countries format 16+1. Butunoi highlighted that the development of parliamentary relations with China represents an important objective of the parliamentarian diplomatic activity, at the level of Romania's Senate," reads a press release sent by the Senate.
According to the quoted source, the President of the Committee for Transport underscored Romania's interest in boosting cooperation on energy by successfully completing negotiations for the two major Romanian-Chinese projects: the construction of units no.3 and 4 of the Cernavoda Power Plant and a new energy group at Rovinari Thermo Power Plant.
"As regards the transport infrastructure, senator Butunoi showed the relevant Romanian-Chinese cooperation potential in the area of transport infrastructure development in Romania, the relevant Chinese companies being welcome to participate in implementing the Romanian projects included in the Transport Master Plan. At the same time, the Romanian official emphasised the interest in capitalising on all opportunities provided by the Republic of China's economic presence at regional level through the 16+1 cooperation format that Romania is part of but also in strengthening the bilateral cooperation in domains such as road and railway infrastructure. In his turn, Nur Bekri expressed his interest in pursuing collaboration in all domains, especially with regard to the energy and infrastructure ones, cooperation aimed at implementing the New Silk Roads," the release further informs.
