Minister Borc had talks in France regarding defence, SMEs, education and exports promotion

Deputy PM, Minister of Economy, Trade and Relations with the Business Environment Costin Borc discussed in France ways to boost and develop the cooperation of Romanian and French companies in the fields of defence, SMEs, education and exports promotion, the Ministry in charge informed on Friday in a release.

Deputy PM Costin Borc met on Friday with Airbus Helicopters Marseille CEO Guillaume Faury, underscoring on the occasion the interest in further developing Airbus cooperation and investment activities in Romania, and also voicing appreciation for the group's involvement in the ongoing training of 23 Romanian workers at the Airbus Helicopters plant in Marignane, as well as for the further training of another group of 24 Romanian aviation personnel in the second half of this year.

The Romanian Deputy PM also expresses confidence that following the signing in May 2016 of the Memorandum of Understanding between Airbus Helicopters Industries and representatives of the Romanian aviation industry such as IAR, Turbomecanica, Aerostar and Aeroteh, effective possibilities of cooperation and involvement of the said companies in the SuperPuma MK1 project will be identified by September 2016.

"During the meeting the sides also referenced the cooperation of IAR Brasov with Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Helicopters Industries for the manufacturing of the H215 helicopter," reads the release of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Relations with the Business Environment.

The agenda of the Romanian official's visit to France June 16 through 18 also included a meeting with Louis Aloccio, vice-president of the Marseille - Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and with Jean-Claude Gaudin, Vice-President of the French Senate, Bouches-du-Rhône Senator and Marseille mayor.

"The sides praised the efficient and diversified activity of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Romania in cooperation with Romania's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with Deputy PM Borc inviting the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Marseille - Provence to engage in direct cooperation with the Constanta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Navigation and Agriculture," the cited release said.

The talks also approached Romania's interest in attracting French companies to major Romanian investment projects, in intensifying the exchange of best practices and training within clusters / competitiveness centres that represent high-performing integrators for technology transfer, the support and development of SMEs for taking their activity at international level, the transposition into practice of the mechanisms and procedures for promoting exports, and continuous vocational training.

The sides also underscored the importance of France as a strategic, commercial and investment partner of Romania's, given that despite the economic crisis, Romania - France trade exchanges have seen an upward trend over the past 11 years, reaching 7.23 bln euro in 2015 and France ranking fourth among Romania's trading partners. At the same time, there are 8,441 companies running on French capital in Romania with registered investments of 2.4 billion euros, which place France 5th among foreign investors by the equity capital.

"Harnessing cooperation opportunities at bilateral and European level as agreed under the roadmap set forth in the Joint Declaration on the Romania - France Strategic Partnership in the fields of transport and infrastructure, energy, agriculture, health, defence and security, culture, education and science, justice and home affairs, public administration, telecommunications and information society was another topic approached by the Romanian high official during his meetings in France," the release said.
