Minister Nelu Tataru: We must expect higher number of coronavirus infections 

Health minister Nelu Tataru, declared on Thursday that the number of coronavirus infection cases  is expected to rise. “We must expect the number of cases to rise, we will have difficult, critical cases, there will be deaths. We hope to have a low rate to be able to manage these cases well,” Tataru said at Unifarm headquarters. 

He said there are cases at Neamt County Hospital. “The Special Commission for Infectious Diseases and the National Public Health Institute are analysing the case and we hope to have an answer by the end of the day for a procedure in which we are testing the whole medical personnel in home isolation and those present in hospitals. In the following days we will  have a presentation of the number of cases in hospitals on the page of the Health Ministry, of the number of tests in hospitals,of the stock of protection equipment and the testing kits to be used. Now tests are made according to epidemiological investigations. Tomorrow we will make a decision according to on the spot evaluations. I will be there and we shall see,” the minister said.

Tataru also refereed to the situation in Suceava. “The sun has started to be seen. The medical corps jas started to accept the situation,they began accepting the equipment and that buffer area where they will not go back home, they will go to hotels in Suceava county by buses,”the minister showed.

Tataru said they will buy 500 ventilators through Unifarm, 30 of which will arrive in Romania next week and the rest at the established deadlines.

The minister also said asymptomatic patients are not allowed to go in community until they have negative tests. “For the time being until we get negative tests from people who were asymptomatic we cannot afford to release them in community when at home they may have people over 65 or children they do not want to infect,” Tataru said.
