Museum of Recent Art Bucharest: 46 Picasso works displayed as of September 27

 

46 paintings, drawings and engravings signed by Picasso and 60 works signed by 22 contemporary Romanian artists, influenced by the work of the most important modern artists can be seen, as of September 27 until January 8 2024 at an exhibition organized by the Museum of Recent Art Bucharest.

 

Picasso Effect”is one of the most impressive exhibitions in Eastern Europe and certainly the most important in Romania, one of the 8 countries participanting in Celbration Picasso program 1973-2023, according to Erwin Kessler, exhibition curator and director of the Museum of Recent Art Bucharest.

 

The event is organized in partnership with Musee National Picasso-Paris and celebrates 50 years since Pablo Picasso's death, with a program including 42 world museums. Romania is the only country in Central and Eastern Europe included in the ample program launched by France and Spain.

 

October 2023 also marks 5 years since the opening of the Museum of Recent Art Bucharest.

 

The Romanian artists exhibited next to Picasso are Ion Grigorescu, Mircea Cantor, Victor Man, Dumitru Gorzo, Florin Mitroi, Marin Gherasim, Stefan Bertalan, Alexandru Tipoia, Alexandru Radvan, Neculai Paduraru, Alma Redlinger and Pisica Patrata.

 

The exhibition will be accompanied by an impressive billingual catalogue, with full color reproductions of the works exhibited (over 100 large size photos) analysed in two introductory texts signed by Romanian and French art historians.
