Net investment in national economy, up 6.4 pct in 2017

 Net investments carried out last year in Romania's national economy stood at 77.964 billion lei, increasing by 6.4 percent from 2016, according to data released on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In Q4 of 2017, net investments in the national economy totalled 28.274 billion lei, by 13.5 percent higher than in the same quarter of 2016. This increase was recorded in all components: other expenditures +43.2 percent, new construction works +13.0 percent and equipment - including means of transportation +2.3 percent.

According to the INS, in 2017 compared to 2016, net investments in the national economy went up 6.4 percent, an increased reported in: other expenditure - 17.4 percent, new construction works - 4.9 percent and equipment (including means of transportation) - 3.9 percent. 

Compared with 2016, 2017 recorded a growth of the net investment's share in construction by 7.1 percentage points. 33.4 percent of the net investments were directed towards the industry, increasing by 0.3 percentage points compared to 2016. 

According to the INS, net investments represent expenditures destined to creating new fixed assets, developing, modernizing and reconstructing those already existing, as well as the value of services related to the transfer of ownership over the existing fixed assets and of the lands taken with payment from other units or from the population (notarial fees, commissions, handling fees).
