New ambassadors of Cuba, Mexico , Armenia and San Marino presented copies of their letters of credence to President Iohannis
President Klaus Iohannis welcomed on Thursday, at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, Ambassadors Jose Guillermo Ordorica Robles (the United Mexican States), Roberto Cesar Hamilton Magana (the Republic of Cuba), Serghei Minasian (the Republic of Armenia) and Eros Gasperoni (the Republic of San Marino) for the presentation of the copies of their letters of credence.
President Klaus Iohannis wished each ambassador success in fulfilling their mandate, assuring them of the entire support of the Romanian authorities in this regard, a release of the Presidential Administration informs.
During the meeting with the Mexican Ambassador, President Klaus Iohannis voiced his appreciation for the positive dynamics of the relationships between Romania and Mexico, and underscored the importance of developing the economic cooperation, in the context in which Mexico is the second most important commercial partner of Romania in Latin America.
In his turn, the Ambassador of the United Mexican States mentioned the cooperation growth in the tourism area, but also the investment opportunities of his country, in areas such as production of electricity and oil extraction. In this context, it was brought to mind the favorable framework of relations between Mexico and the European Union, which the bilateral relation also benefits from.
Within the meeting with Cuba's Ambassador, the head of state voiced the interest of the Romanian side to develop the economic relations between the two states. Furthermore, the cooperation on a multilateral level was also evoked, including inside the UN.
At the meeting with Armenia's Ambassador, President Iohannis encouraged the development of the economic dimension of the bilateral relation. It was evoked, during talks, the historic relationship between the two states and nations, the politic, academic and cultural dialogue, including the special contribution of the Armenian community of Romania.
The Armenian Ambassador thanked the head of state for the support that the Romanian state granted to the Armenian community, which benefits from the Romanian inter-cultural model of reporting to national minorities. It was also brought to mind the favorable context of the recent signing, on the sidelines of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels, on November 2017, of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Armenia, as well as the good cooperation between the two countries within international organisations, including the International Organisation of La Francophonie.
The discussions with Ambassador of the Republic of San Marino highlighted the enhancement of the cooperation between the two states on a political and economic level, as well as in terms of the cooperation between the Republic of San Marino and the European Union, with an emphasis on the ongoing negotiation process of the Association Agreement of San Marino with the EU.
