New orders in processing industry up 7 pct in January-May

In May 2019, the new orders in manufacturing overall (domestic market and non-domestic market), in nominal terms, increased by 0.1% compared to the previous month and were up 5.0% from the same month of the previous year.

In the 1.I-31.V.2019 period, the new orders in manufacturing rose in nominal terms by 7.0% compared to the 1.I-31.V.2018 period.
New orders in the processing industry increased by 7 per cent in nominal terms in the first five months of the year, compared with the same period in 2018, show data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), on Friday .
In May 2019, the new orders in the processing industry, overall (internal and external market) climbed 0.1 per cent in nominal terms against the previous months and also against the same month a year before, by 5 per cent.
According to the INS, in January 1-May 31 2019, compared with the same interval in 2018, new orders in the processing industry saw an overall growth of 7 per cent, due to growths recorded in the durables industry (+9.2 per cent), capital goods industry (+8.8 per cent), intermediary goods industry (+4.2 per cent) and consumer goods industry (+3.6 per cent).
In May 2019, compared with April 2019, new orders in the processing industry climbed 0.1 per cent against increased in the intermediary goods industry (+11.2 per cent), consumer goods industry (+6.4 per cent), durables industry (+4.1 per cent). Drops were recorded in the capital goods industry (-5.5 per cent).
New orders in the processing industry, in May 2019, compared with the same month a year before, climbed 5 per cent, due to increases recorded in the capital goods industry (+6.5 per cent), durables industry (+5.3 per cent), intermediary goods industry (+2.9 per cent) and consumer goods industry (+1.8 per cent).
