Over 500 people evacuated during floods in Galati and Vrancea counties
All 500 people evacuates preventively on Wednesday, following floods produced in Galati and Vrancea counties have food and safe shelters, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) informs.
MAI leaders asked on Wednesday all prefects and heads of inspectorates for emergency situations in counties under flood warnings to grant attention to evacuated persons and make sure they have food and shelter.
According to the source, there have not been any victims so far, while in localities with risk situations measures were taken to evacuate the population. Over 500 people from Slobozia-Conachi, Cuza Voda, Pechea and Negrea, Galati county and Tataranu, Vrancea county were evacuated to relatives, schools and cultural houses.
To limit flood effects, about 400 firemen, policemen and gendarmes with 190 intervention means took action. In Slobozia Conachi and Cuza Voda, 50 soldiers from the Defence Ministry joined the Interior Ministry forces.
At central level intervention technology and pumps were relocated from Buzau emergency inspectorate to Galati authorities, together with firemen from Ialomita, Calarasi and Ciolpani.
The first evaluation of damages will be made when interventions are completed.
The evolution of weather phenomena and the field situation are permanently monitored at the level of DSU and of the National Centre of Interior Ministry Integrated Management.
