PM Ponta welcomes Albanian Government delegation
Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Wednesday welcomed a delegation of the Government of Albania, including the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Entrepreneurship Arben Ahmetaj and the Minister of Energy and Industry Damina Gjiknuri, informs a release of the Executive.
According to the document, the officials analysed the progress towards the achievement of the shared goals set during Prime Minister Victor Ponta\\\'s visit to Tirana in March.
\\\'The main priority of this stage of this bilateral economic agenda is the cooperation in the field of energy. The topics analysed at the meeting were Romania\\\'s possibility of exporting electricity to the Albanian market, the development of the interconnection infrastructure, and the wider involvement of Romanian companies in energy projects in Albania,\\\' the release details.
Ponta acknowledged the progress of the dialogue on export agreements and called for their implementation over the coming weeks.
The head of the Executive also called for a wider participation of Romanian expertise to the projects for upgrading and extending the Albanian hydro power plants and the energy transmission and distribution in Albania.
On the same occasion, the energy ministers of Romania and Albania informed PM Ponta about the status of the preparation for the June session of the intergovernmental bilateral commission.
Ponta promised the firm support of the Romanian Government for the earliest possible recognition of Albania as a European Union candidate.
The Minister of Economy Constantin Nita, the Minister Delegate for Energy Razvan Nicolescu and the Albanian ambassador in Bucharest also attended the reception.
