Presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova: the Pro-Russian candidate Igor Dodon as favourite in two surveys
The pro-Russian politician Igor Dodon, candidate from the Socialist Party for the position of president of the Republic of Moldova at the vote of 30 October is presented as favourite in the first round in two surveys presented on Wednesday, sends Radio Kishinev.
According to an opinion survey presented by the Centre for sociological research Dodon would get 28.5% I the first round of presidential elections being followed by Maia Sandu with 16%.. Third would be Marian Lupu (12.5%) and fourth Andrei Nastase (12%).
On the other hand, a survey presented on Wednesday by the company Intellect Group shows that for Igor Dodon would vote 33.5% of the citizens with right of vote, this being followed by Marian Lupu – 12.7%, Andrei Nastase – 12%, Maia Sandu – 11.5% and Iurie Leanca -7%.
At the same time, 65% of the interviewees stated that the direction of the country is wrong. The issues which preoccupy mostly the Moldavian citizens are small salaries, corruption and high prices for food.
The survey presented by the Centre of Sociological Research was made between 21 September – 8 October on a sample of 1,100 people and had an error margin of +/- 3%.
The presidential vote of the Republic of Moldova of 30 October is the first in the last 20 years where the head of state will be elected through direct vote by the citizens.
