Prince Charles visited Varghisului Gorge, an extremely wild and picturesque reserve

UK's Prince Charles, who is on a private visit to Romania, visited on Thursday afternoon the Varghisului Gorge, one of the most impressive natural reserves in the country, where there are over a hundred caves.

According to some sources, Prince Charles spent Thursday at his mansion in the village of Zalan Valley, which he bought in 2008, and in the afternoon, despite the rain, he is said to have gone to the Varghisului Gorge along with several people in his entourage.

The Varghisului Gorge is an extremely wild and picturesque reserve. The river running through the limestone cliffs dug a passage on a length of almost four kilometers, and specialists say that there are 122 caves here, which host 19 species of bats of the 33 living in Romania.

The Prince of Wales arrived on Monday afternoon in Bucharest, where he met President Klaus Iohannis, then Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, with whom he discussed on protecting cultural heritage, biodiversity, forestry and sustainable rural development.

On Wednesday, His Royal Highness visited the village of Viscri, Brasov County, where he inaugurated the 'The Prince of Wales's Training Centre' of craftsmanship, on the first anniversary of his foundation, Prince of Wales, which supports the preservation of architectural heritage, agriculture and sustainable development in Romania.
According to the quoted sources, Prince Charles may visit Miclosoara on Friday.
