Romania-United Arab Emirates sign agreement on aerial services

Romanian Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Anca Boagiu and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Transport Minister Sultan Saeed Nasser Al Mansoori on Tuesday in Dubai signed 'the Agreement between Romania's Government and the Government of the United Arab Emirates for Aerial Services Between and Beyond Their Territories', Ministry of Transports and Infrastructure says in a release.

'The Agreement is an important step towards the re-launch of Romania's relations with the Gulf Region, at a time when our economies need more openness of markets but also to revamp transport infrastructure and means of communication,' Anca Boagiu said on this occasion.

The Romanian minister evoked the importance of the agreement given also the objective of 'boosting the comfort level for the clients of the two national carriers, as the agreement stipulates streamlined controls for passengers and luggage.'

'The agreement aims to increase the investments of businessmen from the UAE in Romania and to improve airline services of the two carriers of both states,' Boagiu said.

According to the key-provisions set up in the document, the airlines named by each state will enjoy the following rights: to fly over the territory of the other country without landing, to make non-commercial stopovers or stopovers to embark andor disembark passengers, luggage and freight in international traffic, separately or jointly while operating the established services. At the same time, there will be no restriction on the capacity and number of frequencies andor type (types) of planes. Each airline is allowed to establish the frequency, the capacity it provides for the agreed services.

Moreover, the passengers, the luggage and freight in direct transit over the territory of one of the contracting parties and not leaving the airport area designed to this purpose will be stopped for a brief control, except for security measures against violence, hijacking, control of narcotics.
