Romanian mici can be traded on European market as of June 25

The European Commission on Thursday published the Regulation as regards the food categories of meat and the use of certain food additives in meat preparations, which will enter into force on June 25 and which allows, among other things, the preparation of Romanian mici sausages according to the original recipe and their trading on the national market, as well as at European level, the Agriculture Ministry informs in a release on Friday.

'On June 5, 2014, the European Commission Regulation No. 601/2014 amending Annex II to Regulation (EC) No. 1333/2008 as regards the food categories of meat and the use of certain food additives in meat preparations was published in the EU's Official Journal No. L166/11. The Regulation allows, among other things, the preparation of Romanian mici sausages according to the original recipe and their trading on the national market, as well as at European level. We point out the fact that Regulation No. 601/2004 will come into force on June 25, 2014, as a result the Romanian consumer and not only can further enjoy the savour of the Romanian mici,' the release reads.

According to data released by the Pro Agro Federation, nearly 20,000-25,000 tonnes of mici are consumed in Romania a year.
