Stylised wolf is Romania's logo for the Presidency of the European Union Council in 2019
Ioan Nicolae Dobrinescu, pupil at "I.L. Caragiale" National College in Bucharest won the contest for the designation of Romania's logo for the Presidency of the European Union Council in 2019, with a sketch of a stylised wolf.
Ioan Nicolae Dobrinescu explained that the logo was created "wholeheartedly.""Unfortunately, I have noticed that people who don't know me have written inappropriate things about me and have denigrated me. A logo created wholeheartedly. I think the European Union should be confident, strong. Yes, just like a wolf. A wolf that, as I have learned from History classes, was present in all European cultures. Also in school I have learned that Romania has the largest wolf population in Europe. I am glad that we protect nature. And I think we should tell Europe this," he mentioned.
As many as 200 participants entered the contest, 19 reached the final, of whom five were designated winners of two special prizes and 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. The winners' designation was made 50 percent by a jury decision and 50 percent by votes cast on social networks.
The winner was awarded 3,000 euro and a trip to Brussels.
