Survey: the change of work place in 2020, at the top of the priorities for most Romanians

Six out of ten employees say that the change of the work place is among the three first most important priorities for this year, according to a report published on Monday by the platform Best Jobs.

‘As compared, at the beginning of last year, only four of  ten Romanian employees stated being satisfied with their professional situation and considered finding a new job. Thus, the change of job, family and health are the main priorities of the Romanian employee this year’ the report says.

Higher salary and more free time are the main reasons for which the change of a workplace is among the priorities for the majority of the employees in 2020, especially as, from the point of view of the salary 2019 was not very productive for a large part of them. The salary stagnated or even decreased for over 40% of the employees, a survey made by Best Jobs at the end of last year showed.

“Another reason brought about by 42% of the interviewees is that they want to change the employer, the work environment or the team. At the same time, almost four out of ten consider they do not have enough opportunity for personal development, and three out of ten got into the new year without feeling motivated at the present workplace.

A quarter of the interviewees complain about the fact that they work in a company where it is difficult to be promoted, and 13.4% state they do not like what they do’ the press release says.

Over a third of the interviewees analyse the option of changing completely the activity domain, 14%  take into consideration that they are looking for a job abroad, and other 17% are indecisive, but they do not eliminate this option.

‘The changes in society reflect profoundly the work market. We have, on the one hand, high inflation which has eroded a good part of the income of the Romanians and lowered their purchase power, leading to the discontent of the employees. Then, the trend started some years ago is going on: the Romanians appreciate the time dedicated to the family and to those dear to them. If we have a comparison with the results of the survey made by Best Jobs at the beginning of last year, when four out of ten employees had in plan to change the job, we see an increase of 50% of the number of those interested by a new place, a substantial percentage. And the ball is in the employees’ part’ states Dan Puica, CEO BestJobs.

For six out of ten interviewees the online platforms for recruitment bring the biggest chance to find a new job, and the recommendations and reference are important for 30% of them, and others want to maximize their success chances by applying to the companies where they want to get hired. The survey made between 02-15 January, on a sample of 1,075 internet users.
