Two yearsa go, on 15th October 2019, I took over the position of Deputy General Secretary of NATO.A great honour, but a challenge as well, to be the first leader from Central and Eastern Europe to occupy such a position’ said Geoana, mentioning that ‘ there were two intense years, full of challenges, but with important satisfactions’.

He says that, by the extension of the mandate, he will ‘ be able to contribute to the negotiation, adoption and implementation of the new Strategic Concept and the 2030 NATO Agenda’.
