Trade balance deficit goes up, Jan.-Nov. 2019: imports up 4.1pct, exports up 1.7pct

In November 2019, the FOB exports amounted to 5998.8 million euro and the CIF imports amounted to 7489.7 million euro, a commercial deficit of 1490.9 million euro being registered.

Compared to November 2018, the exports increased by 1.0% and the imports decreased by 0.1% in November 2019.
Romania's trade balance deficit in the first 11 months of 2019 stood at 15.511 billion euro, increasing by 2.105 billion euro compared to the similar period of 2018; imports went up 4.1 percent, whereas export increased only by 1.7 percent, according to the data published by the National institute of Statistics (INS) on Thursday.
Thus, in the respective period, Freight on Board (FOB) exports amounted to 64.178 billion euro, and Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) imports reached 79.689 billion euro.
In November 2019, FOB exports totalised 5.999 billion euro and CIF imports amounted to 7.490 billion euro, thus resulting a deficit of 1.491 billion euro. Compared to October 2018, in November 2019 exports increased by 1.0 percent and imports decreased by 0.1 percent.
Between 1 January and 30 November 2019, important shares in the structure of exports and imports are represented by the following groups of goods: machinery and transport equipment (47.2 percent for export and 37.3 percent for import) and other manufactured goods (31.8 percent for export and 30.5 percent for import, respectively).
In the first 11 months of 2019, the Intra-EU28 trade of goods amounted to 49.339 billion euro for dispatches and to 59.580 billion euro for arrivals, representing 76.9 percent of total exports and 74.8 percent of total imports.
In the mentioned period, the Extra-EU28 trade of goods amounted to 14.839 billion euro for exports and to 20.109 billion euro for imports, representing 23.1 percent of total exports and 25.2 percent of total imports.
