Agriculture: Romanian farmers received 769 million euro in first months of 2014
APIA agency has paid over 3.4 billion lei – 769 million euro- to Romanian farmers since the beginning of the year to the present. Payments of 2.5 billion euro are estimated to be made until the end of the year, according to APIA.
“For payments part of SAPS 2013 campaign from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) 2.5 billion lei (560 million euro) have been granted to 1,015,000 farmers of the 1,048,402 requests made in the 2013 campaign. For Axis II of EAGF and national budget co-financing 73.4 million lei were paid (16.5 million euro) as well as over 458.8 million lei (102.8 million euro) were paid to 654,000 farmers for Direct complementary national payments,” APIA data show.
At the same time, the beneficiaries of reconversion programs in the wine, fruit and milk sectors in producer groups received 15.1 million lei (3.3 million euro).
Programs for the promotion of farm produce, wines included, benefitted from 1.5 million lei (345,900 euro), while 7.7 million lei (1.7 million euro) were paid to less favored persons in Romania in 2013.
As for state aid, APIA paid for the Direct national complementary payment about 345 million lei (76.6 million euro) in the animal husbandry sector to 58,000 beneficiaries and 1.8 million lei for insurance premium in agriculture.
EAGF allocated for Romania 1.403 billion euro for the single area payment plan in 2013, but farmer can get no more than 139.17 euro/ha. According to APIA data, land areas recorded for payment grew annually from 8.952 million ha in 2007 to 9.760 million ha this year, 2.395 million ha representing grazing areas.
