Romanian-Turkish Partnership to resume ferry boat traffic between Constanta, Pendik Ports
Romanian Transport Minister Ramona Manescu discussed on Thursday with Turkey's Ambassador Ömür ?ölendil about the resumption of the ferry boat traffic for cargo and passengers between Romania (Constanta Port) and Turkey (Pendik Port).
'The RO-RO project was launched in 2011, but because of some misunderstandings that emerged, it was ceased in October 2012. In order to continue this partnership, the Turkish and Romanian specialists will have the first discussions in March, on the occasion of the Joint Road Committee, where all details will be decided,' reads a release issued by the Ministry of Transport.
According to Ramona Manescu, the maritime line between Constanta Port and Pendik Port will contribute substantially to increasing maritime transit, by opening new opportunities to cargo and passenger transport between Romania and the Republic of Turkey.
'I am glad that we have managed to complete the first phase of the negotiations and I am sure that the resumption of this project will bring benefits to the both sides. The maritime line between Constanta and Pendik Port will contribute substantially to increasing maritime transit, by opening new opportunities to cargo and passenger transport between Romania and the Republic of Turkey, as well as between Europe and Asia,' said transport minister.
