Telecom.IT: 60% software programs installed without licence in 2015, 2% less than in 2013

The level of software programs installed on computers without licence was 60% in 2015 in Romania, indicating a 2% drop compared to 2013, according to the study Seizing Opportunity through License compliance.

According to the latest global study referring to BSA software, computer users in Romania use software without license at alarming rates, despite the fact that a close relation was proved between unlicensed software and information attacks. The report shows that 49% of IT CEOs indicated security dangers caused by malware as a major risk caused by the use of unlicensed software.

According to the report, 39% of programs installed on computers at world level in 2015 do not have licenses, which represents a modest drop compared to 43% in 2013, as shows by the previous BSA study. At world level, in the banking, insurance or brokerage and real estate fields, the rate of such unauthorised use is 25%.

The BSA global study referring to software, made in partnership with IDC, estimated the volume and value of unlicensed software installed on PCs in 2015, in over 110 national and regional economies.
