Trade: Romanian bee therapy, first in the world
Romanians prefer to consume bee products rather than honey, because local bee therapy ranks first in the world, Romania producing the widest variety with the best properties, said the president of the Scientific Commission of Bee Therapy of Apimondia, biochemist Cristina Mateescu.
According to her, Romania is the only state which approved propolis as medicine, through a traditional procedure. Lately, more Romanians have consumed food supplements based on pollen and royal jelly.
According to the source, Romanian consumers buy a jar of honey made in this country per year, although it was the best honey exported in Europe in 2016.
Romanians eat a jar of honey per year, while the Germans consume two kilograms. However, honey consumption has grown ten times in the last 30 years in Romania.
