The companies in the sector of renewables require the elimination of legislative barriers which stop Romania from becoming an energy exporter

The association of companies in the sector of renewable energy require, in one voice, the elimination of legislative barriers which stop Romania from becoming an energy exporter, according to a press release sent on Tuesday.

RPIA (the association of photovoltaic industry in Romania), RWEA (the Romanian association for wind energy) and PATRES( the Employers’ organization of the producers of renewable energy in Romania) representing producers, developers and services and equipment providers in the renewable energy sector, with total installed power of approximately 5 GW require the government to reanalyze the emergency ordnance draft regarding some measures for the implementation of investments necessary for the development of energy infrastructure of Romania finances from the funds allocated in the REPowerEU chapter’, the press release says.

The representatives of the three associations mention that the provisions of the OUG draft break the competition norms and state aid and disturb competition on the energy market by exclusive derogation from the 50 hectare limit for the specific objectives of producing electricity from renewable sources declared of national interest and direct land concession by the State domains Agency.

In the address sent to the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Ciuc?, the profile associations presented the legislative solutions for the elimination of the blockage for all investors in the market, respectively the unlocking of projects that exceed 50 ha.

RPIA, RWEA and PATRES require the re-analyse of the OUG draft and its amendment in the sense of elimination of the provisions through which the measures are implemented for the investments necessary to the development of the energy infrastructure of Romania, financed from the funds allocated in the chapter REPowerEU.

Thus, we require the unlocking of the projects which surpass 50 ha for all investors. The national and European targets to be achieved regarding the share of electricity produced from renewable sources cannot become reality but with joint efforts and collaboration between the public and private sectors, as well as on the basis of a stable and predictable legislative framework, capable to ensure a balanced competitive environment’ the representatives of the three associations require.
