Wind energy temporarily covers almost one quarter of Romania's electricity production
Wind energy was covering on Friday 23.21 percent of Romania's electricity production, second only to hydro power, according to live data on the national energy system posted on the website of Transelectrica, the power grid operator.
At 2pM, the energy production in wind farms amounted to 1.941 MW; hydro power plants were yielding 2,192 MW (26pct).
Wind energy production is highly fluctuating naturally; on April 12, it reached a peak of 41pct of the national production.
Coal-based energy is usually the biggest, with 30pct, followed by hydro (25 to 30pct) and nuclear energy (20pct).
The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has forecasted on Friday a Code Yellow gusts for Dobrogea area, for several hours. According to meteorologists, until 6pm local time, in Constanta and Tulcea counties the gusts will exceed 55 to 60 km per hour, with isolated rains. Warnings on immediate dangerous phenomena (nowcasting) are issued for a maximum of 6 hours, the ANM informs.
