Ambassador Rahul Shrivastava in Oradea : the political relations between Romania and India are perfect
The ambassador of India to Romania, Rahul Shrivastava stated on Friday in Oradea that the political relations between Romania and India are perfect, with visits at the highest level, but the commercial potential could lead to an accelerated development of the economic relations between the two countries.
‘Our political relations are perfect. We have visits at the highest level, the vicepresident of India was to Romania in 2018, then we had several visits at high level from Romania to India. So, we have no problems. Economically, we can say that we have significant investments in Romania, between 1 and 1.5 billion dollars, it is good but it is not sufficient. We want to increase the quantum of investments. Two years ago, the commercial relations had the value around 800 million dollars, but, due to the pandemics, they were reduced and we hope that in a year we could surpass one billion dollars. We have cultural relations, we have education. But the domain which would record the highest development is the commercial one, which is a priority for me as well. The statistical data are not very reduced, but there is much potential. We see Romania as a hub for India, as a gate to the Europeans, where the Indian companies can be established’ stated the Indian diplomat quoted by Agerpres.
Rahul Shrivastava added that culturally the relations are very good, very close with Romania. ‘We have cultural groups which, normally, namely beyond pandemics, have come to Romania very often, but even during the pandemics, over the last ten months, since I arrived here, we have had several events. As an example, over the last eight months I have translated over twenty books in Romanian, which talk about the connexion between India and Romania. And in the domain of education, we have Indian students studying in Romania’ he said.
Ambassador Rahul Shrivastava participated on Fridy to the launch of the photography exhibition from India entitled ‘ LensVision’ organized under the patronage of the Embassy of India to Romania by the International Association ‘Euro Foto Art’ (AIEFA) in partnership with the Museum of Oradea.
The Gallery Euro Foto Art exhibits, for a month, 72 black and white and colour photos made by Sanjoy Bhattacharya, the chairman of the Institute for Photography ‘ Bengal’ from Calcutta and 35 of his students.
The national anthem of India opened the event, being interpreted on a viola by musician Thurzo Sandor. He also presented, between short speeches, other five works received from India, out of which two were composed by the poet and composer Rabindranah Tagore, laureate of the Nobel Prize for literature, whose birthday 150 years ago and whose death 80 years ago were celebrated in May.
