Balance of credit extended to businesses, individuals, up 1.1% in June 2013 from May

The balance of the credit extended to businesses and individuals rose by 1.1% in June 2013 from May, having reached over RON 224.159 billion (some 50.14 billion euros), reads a Tuesday's release issued by Romania's Central Bank.

'The balance of non-government credit extended by credit institutions rose in June 2013 by 1.1% (1.1% in real terms) from May 2013, up to the level of RON 224.159 billion. The RON-denominated credit went up by 0.3% (0.3% in real terms), whilst the RON-denominated forex credit increased by 1.6% (denominated in euros, the forex credit decreased by 0.2%). On June 30, 2013, the non-government credit recorded a reduction by 1.3% (-6.3% in real terms) from June 30, 2012, due to the 2.2% increase in the RON component (-3.0% in real terms) and the 3.3% decrease in the RON-denominated forex component (denominated in euros, the forex credit decreased by 3.5%),' reads the document.

According to the source, the government credit increased in June 2013 by 4.5%, having exceeded RON 74.645 billion. On June 30, 2013, the government credit decreased by 7.4% (-12.1% in real terms) compared to June 30, 2012.

Broad money supply (M3) recorded at end-June 2013 a balance exceeding RON 227.782 billion. From May 2013, it increased by 0.8% (0.7% in real terms), and compared to June 2012, the money supply rose by 5.0% (-0.3 % in real terms).
