Corlatean expresses support for Kerry's efforts to persuade Israelis and Palestinians to resume negotiations
Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean expressed support for the efforts of the U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, and satisfaction for the recent developments in the Peace process in the Middle East, the Israeli and Palestinian sides having agreed to resume direct negotiations in the next period.
Head of Romanian diplomacy expressed this position in Brussels, on Monday, in a video-conference attended by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs, Catherine Ashton, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States and the American Secretary of State, John Kerry, focused on the Peace process in the Middle East.
'On this occasion, Minister Titus Corlatean expressed support for the efforts of the U.S. Secretary of State and satisfaction for the recent developments which culminated in the agreement of the Israeli and Palestinian sides to resume, in the next period, direct negotiations. The Romanian Minister stressed the importance of continuing the intra-Palestinian reconciliation process, an important aspect of direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority', the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) detailed, asked by AGERPRES.
The Foreign Ministers of the EU Member States, gathered in the Council of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the announcement of negotiations, Catherine Ashton said, at the same time appreciating it as a 'crucial step'.
