Ciolos: We will create IT department for development in administration
Premier Dacian Ciolos declared on Thursday that a new department for the coordination of information technology will be set up at government level. The mission of that structure will be to develop electronic platforms so that citizens could interact more easily with the state.
Ciolos says an IT coordination department will be set up for projects of strategic importance.
The government approved on Wednesday a memorandum with measures for the consolidation of the management of information systems in administration and the development of e-governing services. The measures have in view to set up a coordination and decision making structure at top level for government information systems: setting up the role of IT Coordinator next to the support structure, the Government IT Department and the setting up of GovITHub, a government program coordinated by the Prime Minister Chancellery.
The IT Coordinator, a role known as CIO- Chief Information Office- together with the Government IT Department represent a structure devoted to IT and IT project coordination at national level, which will ensure a unitary outlook in the field of electronic governing, a press release points out.
According to this source, the main mission of the structure is to develop electronic governing platforms, so that citizens could interact more easily with the state. GovITHub will be coordinated by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
