PM Ciolos to attend the European Union-Asia summit meeting in Mongolia

Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos said Wednesday that next week he will be attending a European Union-Asia summit meeting in Mongolia and visiting Vietnam in an attempt to find potential for economic cooperation.

"I'll be going to Asia to join other European Union and Asian chiefs of state or government in a European Union-Asia summit meeting that is held each year alternately in Europe and Asia. Hosting it this year is Mongolia, in Ulan Bator. We will discuss there cooperation projects between Asia and the European Union (...) Asia is a very dynamic continent economically speaking. The European Union has been negotiating several free trade projects, so we have several freed trade agreements being negotiated over. Romania has to position itself vis-?-vis this potential, exports included," Ciolos told TVR1 public television broadcaster.

He also said he decided to visit Vietnam as well to boost economic ties between Romania and Vietnam.

"I have decided that in my route to Ulan Bator I'll stop over in Vietnam, where it has been years since a Romanian prime minister or president last stopped. The European Union is negotiating on a free trade agreement with Vietnam as well. We have traditionally great relations with Vietnam and I would like to boost our relations there, economic ones included. I will go there accompanied by a 20-strong business retinue in an attempt to find potential for economic cooperation," said Ciolos.
