Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe pays working visit to Romania

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Thomas Hammarberg, will pay a working visit to Romania, to discuss certain topics of current interest, as well as to strengthen cooperation with the Romanian authorities in the field of human rights protection.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), the Commissioner for Human Rights will have meetings in the next interval with the chief of Romanian diplomacy, Teodor Baconschi and with the Secretary of State for European Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu.

Moreover, the visit schedule of the official from Strasbourg includes meetings at the Presidential Administration, at the Ministry of Administration and Interior, at the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Protection, at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, at the National Agency for Roma and at the National Council for Combating Discrimination. Thomas Hammarberg is also going to meet with representatives of certain Romanian NGOs active in human rights protection.
