PM Boc: Gov't allots money to support at least 200 start-ups in 2010 and 1,000 in 2011

The Government will award 10,000-euro grants to approximately 200 companies founded by young entrepreneurs in 2010 and to around 1,000 in 2011, Premier Emil Boc said during the talks on the draft Emergency Ordinance on the financial aid provided to young business beginners.

According to the Government's Press Office, Boc pointed out that approximately 20 million euros would be allotted to the future law in 2010, as government guarantees for young businessmen to get bank loans, while another 80 million euros will be allotted in 2011.

'Around 100 million euros are allotted for this programme in state guarantees, i.e. 20 million euros for 2010 and 80 million euros for 2011, which should cover all the government guarantees provided by the state. It is the same with the grants, as we will be able to find financial resources for, let's say, 200 companies in 2010 and, we hope, for at least around 1,000 in 2011, so that the programme is somewhat supported from the budget,' Boc said at the talks.

Economy Minister Ion Ariton underscored the priority given by the Government to spending investment money for this programme that supports young entrepreneurs on starting new businesses.

'We presented the two drafts, i.e. the Emergency Ordinance and the methodological rules, which we intended and intend to present to the Government. Starting with the Executive's priority to use the available money for investments, we created this Emergency Ordinance that called for young people under the age of 35,' Ariton told the debate, according to the transcript of the talks posted on the Executive's website.

The Economy Ministry will give the Premier the final draft of the Emergency Ordinance, after consulting with several employers associations' representatives, Agerpres informs.

'After finalizing today's talks and after all the materials are ready, we will present the final draft to the Prime Minister, which we will also support at the Government meeting,' said Ariton.

Boc also said the Executive had already allotted twice as much money in the budget projection for 2011 for co-financing European projects, compared to 2010.

'The main priorities for 2011 are supporting investments and absorbing European funds. From this viewpoint we allotted twice as much money in the budget projection for 2011 to co-finance European projects, as funds through which Romania could bring European money home,' said the Prime Minister.
