European Castle Fair at Corvinilor Castle in Hunedoara
A new edition of the European Castle Fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Corvinilor Castle in Hunedoara. The event will gather representatives of castles, cities and museums in five European countries, the organizers of the event, Hunedoara Townhall and Corvinilor Castle announced on Tuesday.
The 29 participants will offer tourists the most interesting information about what they could visit in Medieval castles or cities in Romania, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland and Bulgaria.
“All exhibitors will present very interesting tourism offers. From Romania we welcome Peles and Pelisor Castles, which are for the first time present at the fair. Dacian strongholds from Orastie Mountains and Deva stronghold will be also represented,” said the director of Corvinilor Castle, Costin Tinca.
The guest list includes strongholds and castles from Romania, such as Bran Castle, Suceava Stronghold, Fagaras stronghold or the Clock Tower in Sighisoara. From abroad we mention the presence of Balchik Palace (Bulgaria), Postojnska stronghold (Slovenia) and Eger Castle (Hungary).
During the two days of the event, tourists and exhibitors will enjoy a series of medieval events, including tournaments, fights between knits of the Hunedoara Order, bow shooting contests, spade lessons.
“We will have a traditional product fair in Hunedoara county, music from the Renaissance period, a camera evening, while the Hunedoara Knight Order will present a program of Medieval fights and dances. Painting workshops will be organized in the castle and the participants’ works will be exhibited”, said the curator of the castle, Dan Bera.
Members of Peregrinus Association for the protection of birds of pray will present several events with hawk hunting.
The European Castle Fair, now at the second edition, will be open between 10.00 am. - 5.00 p.m and tourists who pay entrance ticket at Corvinilor Castle will have free access to all stands and events prepared by organizers.
Last year the fair was visited by 11,000 tourists.
