Vital statistics in March 2016

As many as 14,819 births were recorded in Romania in March 2016, up 1,200 from February 2016, but the country's rate of natural increase stayed negative (-7,352) since deaths, at 22,171, outpaced living births by 244, according to data released on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
There were 137 deaths of infants aged one year and under in March 2016, up 31 from February 2016.
As many as 6,125 marriages were registered in the same month, up 441 on a monthly basis, while divorces under final and binding court orders under Law 202/2010 reached 2,969, up 278 from the previous month.
Compared with March 2015, living births decreased by 328 and deaths also went down by 3,693. The rate of natural increase was negative both in March 2016 (- 7,352), and in March 2015 (10,717).
The number of deaths in infants aged one year and under increased by six in March 2016 from March 2015.
Marriages in March 2016 were by 2,120 higher than in March 2015, while the number of final divorces under Law 202/2010 was by 273 higher over the same period.
