Romania's trade deficit widens to 1.97 billion euros in Q1, 2016
Romania's Q1, 2016 FOB/CIF trade deficit widened to 1.966 billion euros, up 589.3 million euros from Q1, 2015, according to data released on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Q1, 2016 FOB exports totalled 13.846 billion euros, up 3.5 percent from the similar period of the year before, while CIF imports neared 15.813 billion euros, having advanced 7.1 percent.
Romania's Q1, 2016 intra-community trade with the 27 other EU member states stood at 10.543 billion euros worth of deliveries and 12.349 billion euros worth of arrivals, making up 76.1 percent of total exports and 78.1 percent of total imports.
Extra-community trade in the same period stood at 3.303 billion euros worth of exports and 3.463 billion euros worth of imports, making up 23.9 percent of the total exports and 21.9 percent of the total imports.
Significant weights in Romania's Q1, 2016 foreign trade were held by: transport machines and equipment (48 percent of exports and 37.7 percent of imports) as well as other manufactured goods (33.1 percent of exports and 31 percent of imports).
Romania's March 2106 FOB exports exceeded 4.917 billion euros (up 2.4 percent from March 29015), while CIF imports totalled 5.891 billion euros (up 5 percent from March 2015), giving a deficit of 973.9 million euros.
