Italian parliamentary delegation visiting troops at 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base
Secretary of State and Chief of the Department for Parliament Liaison and Personnel Welfare Eduard Bachide received on Saturday, at the 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, headed by President Piero Fassino, visiting the troops deployed in Romania.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of National Defence (MApN), the two delegations discussed topical issues such as the security situation in the Black Sea region, the NATO agenda and EU initiatives in the field of defence.
The Romanian official thanked for the partners' quick reaction, "proving Italy's firm commitment to NATO and a good reflection of the importance Italy attaches to collective defence and to strengthening posture in our region".
Bachide also welcomed Italy's contribution to the Enhanced Air Policing missions in the Black Sea region and praised the professionalism with which Italian pilots carry out their missions while deployed in Romania.
The Secretary of State highlighted the contribution to the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO), which is of particular importance for Romania. Currently, Romania and Italy are jointly participating in new PESCO projects, specifies the MApN press release.
