Ministry of Economy: Trade between Romania and Kazakhstan - 3 bn dollars, below potential of two countries
Trade between Romania and Kazakhstan amounted to over 3 billion dollars at end-2012, a volume considered by the relevant authorities to be below the real potential of the economies of the two states, especially from the perspective of export possibilities of the Romanian companies, according to a press release issued on Thursday by the Romanian Ministry of Economy.
Secretary of State with the Ministry of Economy, Manuel Donescu has attended the Conference 'Kazakhstan Strategy 2050,' mentioning that, through the scope of the economic agenda, the cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan represents a privileged direction of action for Romania, in which the energy component remains the centerpiece.
According to the Ministry of Economy's release, the trade between the two states, worth 3.021 billion dollars in late 2012, is not in line with the real potential of the two countries' economies, especially from the perspective of export possibilities of the Romanian companies, and Romania should focus on expanding, deepening and diversifying the bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
'We are convinced that Kazakhstan's rapidly-growing economy needs and can use many of the products made in Romania. If I were to refer to some of those products, I must mention the equipment for drilling and processing crude oil, the IT sector, shipbuilding, cars, electric appliances and equipment, freight cars, or even building a freight car plant in Kazakhstan,' said Manuel Donescu.
The next session of the Inter-governmental Joint Commission of Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation will be held in Astana, in H2 2013.
