Motorways, 24 national roads, ports remain closed

Road traffic is closed on the three motorways and 24 national roads due to unfavourable weather conditions, reads a press release of the INFOTRAFIC Centre of the Romanian Police Inspectorate General sent early on Monday at 5.30 am.

The stretches that are closed are located in Romania's southern and south-eastern counties, namely Prahova, Ilfov, Calarasi, Giurgiu, Dambovita, Buzau, Ialomita, Vrancea, Braila, Galati, Tulcea, Constanta.

As for the railway traffic, the trains travelling on the route Ploiesti-Urziceni and Bucharest South - Oltenita are also cancelled.In addition, the ports of Constanta (south-eastern Romania) are closed both for maritime traffic and for river traffic.

 

Schools to be closed in Bucharest on Monday, Tuesday due to bad weather

 

Classes in Bucharest schools will be suspended on Monday and Tuesday on a recommendation of the Prefect's Institution and the Bucharest City Hall, given the bad weather, the Education Ministry announced on Sunday.

'Given the unfavourable weather, the Bucharest School Inspectorate management decided to close the pre-higher education schools (pre-schools, primary-and-secondary schools and high schools) in Bucharest on Monday, January 27 and Tuesday, January 28. The decision was made on the recommendation of the Prefect's Institution and the Bucharest City Hall, and by informing the National Education Ministry', the institution said.

The resumption of classes in Bucharest will be announced in due time, the ministry added.
