Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has accepted Patriarch Daniel's invitation to come to Romania to celebrate Saint Dimitrie the New, October 26-28.
"Patriarch Kirill said he was ready to accept the invitation and come to Romania together with other Primates of other Christian Orthodox churches from the former communist states. The Romanian Patriarchy sent this invitation, in the context of the Commemorative Year it dedicates to the defenders of the Orthodoxy during the communist era and the 10th anniversary of His Holiness Daniel becoming Patriarch. The visit will also take place on the occasion of the celebration of Saint Dimitrie the New, the patron saint of Bucharest - on October 27," the spokesman of the Romanian Patriarchy, Vasile Banescu, said on Thursday.
The Romanian Patriarchy announced that starting at 09:30 am on Saturday, a Te Deum service will be held at the Patriarchal Cathedral, with members of the Saint Synod of the Romanian Christian Orthodox Church and foreign Orthodox leaders, clerics and lay people expected to attended. After the service, the Saint Synod will convene in a solemn meeting in the Patriarch Teoctist Hall of Patriarchy Palace.
