Prime Minister Ponta: Damascus regime is illegitimate and criminal
The Damascus regime is illegitimate and criminal and Romania is an allied and a serious member of the international community, Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on attending the Social Democrats' (PSD) National Executive Committee meeting in the Black Sea resort of Mamaia on Friday.
Ponta, who heads the Social Democrats underscored the Romanian authorities are in constant contact with the international partners and it is possible the Romanian Government might issue a position later on Friday.
'We have, together with our foreign minister, been in constant contact with our international partners relating the situation in Syria. And later today even, depending on the information that we have, we will work out the Government's position, a position you know very well, in fact. Namely that it is impossible at this moment to deny the fact the Damascus regime is an illegitimate regime and one committing crimes against its own population. Romania is an allied and a serious member of the international democratic community and we will have a very clear position to this effect, in full coordination with our partners', the prime minister stressed.
