Reimbursements are made for the financial package given to Romania by international creditors in 2009, which is worth a total 19.95 billion euros. The year 2015 is the time when the authorities have to pay the largest amount: 1.826 billion euros.
In 2009 Romania initialled a 24-month stand-by loan worth 12.95 billion euros from the IMF, which was part of the support package worth 19.95 billion euros given by the IMF, the EU and the World Bank.
Romania received seven of the eight tranches worth a total 10.57 billion SDR (about 11.9 billion euros) of this arrangement with the IMF.
The eighth tranche was regarded as a precautionary one at the request of the Romanian authorities and was not used in the context of the favourable macroeconomic developments.
