Quarantine against bird flu in Constanta Harbour
Dan Tivilichi, the general manager of the Marine Port Administration National Company (CNAPM) Constanta, announced on Tuesday, in a press release, the setting up of special bio-security measures in the port area after the confirmation of the second case of bird flu discovered in the Passenger Terminal area.
“The confirmation of the presence of bird flu virus at tests taken from birds found in Constanta Port determine CNAPM to adopt special safety measures, ordered by Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety - DSVSA,”the press release shows.
The general manager of Constanta Port says that central dispatch will collect all data referring to new suspicions of illness, found in wild birds living in the port, on land or in closed areas and will alert DSVSA.
In his turn, DSVSA spokesperson Dr. Cristina Linte confirmed that bio safety measures decided on November 28 are maintained and applied in setting up quarantine for the prevention and limitation of bird flu cases in Constanta Port.
The Institute for Animal Diagnosis and Health of Bucharest confirmed, on Monday the presence of the virus of bird flu in the samples taken from the corpse of a bird in the Constanta harbour.
‘Taking into consideration the fact that the respective corpse was found at a distance of 300 m from the place where the corpse of the winter swan was found ( with the virus of bird flu, subtype H5N8) this is considered as secondary focus of bird flu.As a result, they keep the measures decided by the national agency for veterinary and food safety- ANSVSA at the starting of the bird flu on 28.11.2016’ says ANSVSA.
At the level of the Constanta county was activated the Local Centre for Disease Combating and daily measures were taken on the part of DSVSA Constanta to ANSVSA.
In case of dead bird identification, wild or domestic the vet will be contacted as soon as possible or DSVSA for the sampling of the corpses and laboratory analyses.
It is forbidden to send: birds, fresh meat, minced meat, mechanically separated meat, produce of meat from domestic birds, originary from the control areas and wild game with feathers from the respective area, from the areas of veterinary sanitation restrictions without the agreement of the veterinary authorities.
