Travel Channel, National Tourism Authority to cooperate on Wild Carpathia new mini series

The Travel Channel and Romania's National Tourism Authority (ANT) will cooperate on a new Wild Carpathia mini-series, which will be centred on the dramatic Carpathian Mountains, informs www.4rvf.co.uk.

The idea has been inspired by an original concept developed by The European Nature Trust - a charity NGO dedicated to the preservation of Europe's last remaining wilderness.

After a successful first episode, the Romanian Tourist Authority went into a partnership with Travel Channel to create two more episodes of the series.

The new episodes, to be produced by Almond Films, will continue to explore the forests and medieval landscapes of Carpathia, along with the local people and personalities who are working to preserve the region.

The series has been backed by Minister Delegate for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, Tourism and Business Environment Maria Grapini. The Romanian Minister worked closely with Scripps Networks Interactive, which owns the Travel Channel, to ensure that episodes two and three of Wild Carpathia came to broadcast.

The two sequels will be also shown in over 130 countries (aired on Romania's public television, included), and translated into 21 different languages. The collaboration will also see a comprehensive promotional campaign including 24 promotional films featuring stunning locations across the country. The eight three-minute films and 16 one-minute films will focus on a range of subjects including wildlife, adventure, wellness and tourism.

'I am hugely grateful to the Romanian Government for making this possible. It will give us a chance to further show why Romania is a jewel in the crown of Europe and needs to be celebrated for its amazing beauty,' presenter Charlie Ottley said.

A launch event organised and funded by the European Nature Trust will be held in Bucharest for the second episode on 29 May, with a UK launch to be held at BAFTA in London on 5 June.
