Several investors have announced plans to build wind farms in Romania, mainly in the southeastern part of the country, near the Black Sea. Thus, Czech CEZ has already built 70 wind turbines of 175 MW-installed power at Fantanele, Constanta county. The entire project aims at installing 240 wind turbines in a total investment of EUR1.1 billion. In April, Spanish Iberdrola obtained the license to connect 1,500-MW of wind power to the national electricity system, through 50 wind farms built by 2017.Moreover, Energias de Portugal has a 90-MW power project in Romania, and Italy's Enel - a 200-MW project. Romania's dominant oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) also announced to enter the wind power sector after purchasing Wind Power Park. So far, Romania's wind power generation capacities total only 14.1 MW.
