DefMin Motoc visited the NATO's HUMINT Excellence Centre in Oradea

Defence Minister Mihnea Motoc visited on Thursday the NATO's HUMINT Excellence Centre in Oradea and said that, in the field of defence intelligence, the Ministry of National Defence is major contributor to both NATO and the EU, the ministry stated in a press release.

The assessments concerning the security situation in Ukraine have special relevance in this respect.

"The more uncertain the international environment - and our ability to predict seems to decrease in temporal projection - the more adaptable we must be to any situations. I firmly believe that the clever use of intelligence can bring greater strategic advantages in defence than a division of tanks. Therefore, it is necessary to continue seriously and courageously to reflect to our priorities and programs for the future," said Motoc.

According to the ministry, the HUMINT Centre of Excellence, opened in 2010, is exceptionally equipped with modern classrooms, conference rooms, accommodation facilities, fire ranges and training spaces adapted to different activities.

"The NATO mission in HUMINT field is to provide a single point of reference as regards the increase of the field intervention capability of the Allied intelligence experts, both through training and through the development of policies and standardized procedures to support the Alliance and forecast the development of capabilities to obtain intelligence from human sources," the said release reads.
