The plenary of the Deputies’ chamber adopted by articles, on Monday the legislative proposal for the revision of the Constitution which says that the family relies on the freely agreed marriage between a man and a woman.
Under its present format, the Constitution says that the family relies on the freely agreed marriage between spouses.
The Social Democratic Party (PSD), Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) and the People's Movement Party (PMP) deputies as well as some of the Liberal party (PNL) ones stated they will support this draft law.
‘I want to congratulate all those almost 3 million and a half Romanians who signed this citizen initiative for the revision of the constitution. We are faced with the expression of the principle of the people’s sovereignity. The values of the family are fundamental for the Romanian society. I, as one who supports the Christian family consider this is an important moment for Romania. Lately, the fundamental values, moral values, identity values of the society where we live are more and more attacked all over the globe. The family has become a target. This action is the defence of the family and of the whole legislation and all citizen rights and liberties for all the people who live in families. No right is restricted. I, personally, will vote for the format proposed by the Coalition for the family’ said in the debates for the draft la by the PNL deputy Daniel Gheorghe.
The draft law will be submitted to the final vote in the plenary meeting of the Deputies' Chamber that is to take place on Tuesday.
