Deputy PM Ion-Marcel Ciolacu on Monday discussed at Victoria Governmental Palace with a delegation of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham) about the tax policies promoted by the Government meant to attract investors and the organization of the Romanian-American Conference "Trade Winds" in Bucharest.

The meeting, says a Government release, took place ahead of this year's edition of the Romanian-American Conference "Trade Winds" in Bucharest, due on October 18-20, where the representatives of 100 American companies and approximately 50 Romanian ones are expected to participate.

The discussion mainly focused on the careful preparation of this event, to address cooperation solutions for increasing competitiveness of Romanian economy and ensuring its long-term sustainability, as well as the permanent dialogue of decision making factors with the private sector representatives.

Thus, the Government already prepares a platform for dialogue with the representatives of the private sector, while copying the existing model at institutional level for the dialogue with the social partners. Moreover, a working group made of representatives of the Romanian Government, Romania's Chamber of Commerce and Industry and AmCham, to also benefit from diplomatic support, will ensure the contact at institutional level with the representatives of the business milieu interested to participate in the "Trade Winds" conference of October.

"We wish that the business partnerships to be discussed at the upcoming conference in Bucharest materialize and that we attract as many investors as possible among the ones who will attend the event in Bucharest," Deputy PM Ciolacu said in a release.

He also underscored the whole readiness of the Government in supporting investments and the importance of the Strategic Partnership with the US, in this context, while the members of the Romanian delegation will present the top measures adopted by the Executive or considered for the next interval, in view of improving collections to the budget.

"The Government's objective is to identify and adopt these tax solutions based on which we seek to improve collection, without affecting the business environment and in consideration of the public opinion," said Ciolacu.

In their turn, the AmCham representatives voiced their readiness to participate in a constructive dialogue and to offer technical assistance in the relation with the Romanian side, as both parties share the same interest in increasing Romanian economy's competitiveness and attracting foreign investments, including through absorption of European funds.

On the other hand, the AmCham representatives also evoked the perspective offered by the "Trade Winds" conference to the Romanian companies interested in accessing the US market.

Participating in the meeting were also the Minister of Public Finance, Ionut Misa, the Minister of Transport, Razvan Cuc, the Minister of Energy, Toma Petcu, the secretary of state with the Ministry of Economy Petre Niculescu and state advisors Ramona Lohan and Florin Vodita. The AmCham delegation was led by the head of the organization, Jaak Mikkel.

The Government also informs several meeting will be held in the next interval to approach topical issues between the representatives of the Government and those of AmCham, the first of which will be focusing the draft budget for 2018, so that the priority objectives of the government be known beforehand by possible investors.

"Trade Winds" is the largest trade promotion event organized on an annual basis by the US Department of Commerce, this year in its 10th edition.
