Discussions at MAE on the Romanian-Chinese cooperation in fields such as energy, transport infrastructure, agriculture
State Secretary for Global Affairs, Daniela Gitman had on Tuesday, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) seat, a meeting with a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the People's National Assembly of China, led by the Committee's Chair, Fu Ying, an occasion to tackle topics on the bilateral agenda, but also on the international one, the MAE informs.
The discussions emphasized the "special role" of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting bilateral relations, this being one of the priority directions of action agreed upon in order to deepen the cooperation between the two countries.
"Gitman reconfirmed the interest of the Romanian authorities to extend substantially the economic cooperation, including for the sustained promotion of Romanian exports to China and for the involvement of this country in large-scale investment projects in Romania. She pointed out the importance of the Romanian-Chinese cooperation in fields such as energy, transport infrastructure, agriculture, information technology and environmental protection. She also remarked the usefulness of encouraging and backing bilateral inter-human exchanges, focusing on the development of tourism between the two countries and supporting cultural interaction," the MAE informs.
The two officials also exchanged views on topical issues on the international and regional agenda, focused on the developments in Europe and Asia, reiterating "the need for a sustained political dialogue between Bucharest and Beijing, including between the two legislative bodies."
The MAE brings to mind that the Chinese delegation is paying a visit to Romania 11 to 14 July in response to the one paid to China, in April, by the delegation of the Chamber of Deputies' Foreign Policy Committee.
