Jose Miguel Menchaca Pinochet is the new Ambassador Agree of Chile to Romania

State Secretary for Global Affairs, Daniela Gitman received on Tuesday Ambassador Agree of Chile to Romania Jose Miguel Menchaca Pinochet to present copies of his credentials, during which the two officials have expressed interest in boosting further the economic relations between the two countries.

According to a press release, Gitman and Pinochet highlighted the positive developments in recent years in the overall bilateral relations, as well as the upward trend of economic cooperation and trade between Romania and Chile, "both in traditional sectors, such as mining, agriculture and wine-making, as well as in the development of innovative projects, such as renewable energy and information technology."

"Ambassador Agree Jose Miguel Menchaca Pinochet and State Secretary Daniela Gitman have expressed interest in further boosting economic relations, noting that the substantial bilateral cooperation potential offers many opportunities unexplored by the entrepreneurs in the two countries. They also hailed the close cooperation of the two countries' multilateral cooperation. In this context, they discussed about the phase and prospects of specific cooperation in terms of candidacies in the UN system," reads the Foreign Ministry's release.

Also discussed were the new perspectives opened by Romania's becoming, in June, observer in the Pacific Alliance, an organization whose pro tempore presidency is currently held by the Republic of Chile.

"In view of pragmatically capitalizing on Romania's joining, as an observer state, this cooperation platform, State Secretary Daniela Gitman proposed maintaining a sustained dialogue with the Embassy of Chile in Bucharest to identify projects that Romania could contribute to under the umbrella of the Pacific Alliance, in areas such as trade, energy, natural disaster management and academic collaboration," informs the MAE.
