Euro reached new historic level on Tuesday; BNR exchange rate: 4.8888 lei/euro

The leu depreciated on Tuesday, by 0.38 bani (0.08%), the European currency reaching a new historic level , in conditions in which the National Bank of Romania (BNR) exchange rate is 4.8888 lei/euro.

BNR quoted euro at 4.8850 lei on Monday. In the interbanking market, the national currency was quoted between 4.8856 and 4.8914 lei for 1 euro.

The leu lost ground in front of the US dollar, reaching 4.1136, rising by 1.10 bani (0.27%) against the Monday rate of 4.1026 lei/dollar.

The national currency appreciated against the Swiss franc by 0.17 bani (-0.03%). So on Tuesday, the franc quotation was 4.4257 lei compared to 4.4274 lei on Monday.

Gold went up by 1.68 lei (0.73%) to 230.1267 lei, from 228.4416 lei, established in the previous session.
