Eurostat: the real income of farmers in Romania dropped by 15.1 percentage in 2009
The real income of employees in the agricultural sector recorded in Romania in 2009 a drop of 15.1 percent, while in the European Union (EU27) they dropped, on average by 12.2 percentage, after a decline of 2.5 percentage in 2008 according to the preliminary data for 2009 presented on Friday by the European Bureau for Statistics ( Eurostat).
The most important drops in income were recorded in Hungary ( minus 35.6 percentage), Italy ( minus 25.3 percentage) Luxembourg ( minus 25.1 percentage) and the Czech Republic ( minus 24.1 percentage). The most important increase were recorded in the UK ( 14.3 percentage), Malta ( 9.1percentage) and Finland ( 2.6 percentage).
The decline of real income of employees in the agricultural sector of the EU was caused mainly by the significant drop of the value of agricultural production of the EU of 10.9 percent, while the value of production costs dropped by 9.2 percentage in real terms.
Between 2000 and 2009 Eurostat estimate that the real income for an employee in the agricultural sector dropped, on average, by 1. 7 percentage in EU 27.
