Foreign exchange reserves with BNR stood at 31,729 million euros on June 30th 2016
On June 30th 2016, foreign exchange reserves with the National Bank of Romania (BNR) stood at 31,729 million euros, compared with 32,672 million on May 31st 201, down 943 million as the Government repaid the principal and interest on euro denominated bonds issued by the Ministry of Public Finances that matured on June 17, 2016 totalling 1,578.75 million euros, BNR reported in a press statement on Friday.
In June 2016, 979 million-euro inflows were recorded representing inflows into the European Commission's account (861 million euros), changes in the foreign exchange reserve requirements of the credit institutions, inflows into the Ministry of Public Finances' accounts, etc.
On the other hand, 1,922 million euros in outflows were recorded representing changes in the foreign exchange reserve requirements of the credit institutions, interest and principal payments on foreign currency public debt etc.
"The repayment of principal and interest on euro denominated bonds issued by the Ministry of Public Finances that matured on June 17, 2016 totalizing EUR 1,578.75 million," says BNR.
The gold stock remained unchanged at 103.7 tonnes, with its value amounting to 3,944 million euros.
The international reserves of Romania (foreign currencies and gold) as of June 30, 2016 stood at 35,673 million euros, compared with 36,296 million euros as of May 31, 2016..
Payments due on public and publicly guaranteed foreign currency denominated debt amounted to approximately 120 million euros.
